My mom runs Namaste Dog Training, a positive-reinforcement dog training business in Cullman, Alabama. Her website was an old WordPress install. It was clunky and looked dated, the logo image was broken, and the embedded map pointed at the wrong location. WordPress also wants plugin and security updates all the time, which is a lot of upkeep for what amounts to a few pages about classes and prices.
So I rebuilt it as plain HTML and CSS, with no database and nothing to patch. It runs on the same VPS as this site, with Cloudflare in front. Every page kept the URL it had on WordPress, so old links and search results still land in the right place.
The contact form was the only part that needed code on the server. My VPS doesn't have a mail server, so the PHP script sends each message through Resend's API. Spam gets caught by a hidden field that only bots fill in, with Cloudflare's Turnstile check behind that.
I set the server up assuming dogtrainerwendy.com was her main domain. It turned out to be namastedogtraining.com, so I had to flip which one redirects to which. While sorting that out I found she had two Google Business listings with her reviews split between them, and I asked Google to merge them.
Most of my time went into figuring out what would get people to book a class. The homepage now shows when the next class starts, and on phones there's a Text Us button pinned to the bottom of the screen.
She loved it right away, and she's been helping me tweak it until it's exactly how she wants it.
